Date and Location TBD
This financial literacy workshop offers a curriculum framework for teaching parents and children basic concepts about managing money. The goals of the training are to incorporate financial education concepts into instruction for adults and their children, to develop a plan of action for integrating financial education into a program, and to construct steps to determine community connections and resources to support families in mastering their financial goals. Participants will:
- Explore effective strategies for teaching parents about long- and short-term financial goals and practice ways to engage preschool children in basic financial activities through literature and dramatic play.
- Review the Family Financial Play Pack and practice parent-child interactive activities.
- Plan how to integrate the adult learner workbook and concepts into your daily routine. This curriculum, written at the fourth grade adult reading level, includes a teacher's guide.
Participants will receive a complete set of curriculum materials and a new perspective on teaching financial literacy in a family context. This session is recommended for adult and family literacy instructors, preschool educators, Head Start teachers and family service workers, home visitors, parenting educators, cooperative extension agents, and family resource center coordinators.
